2013 Maserati Quattroporte revealed
Maserati has revealed the first images of the upcoming 2013 Quattroporte which will be showcased next January at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show. Although they did not share any technical details of the car, various reports are indicating that the new version is now 148mm longer, standing at 5200mm. Most of the added length is in the wheelbase which means that it will provide additional legroom for the rear passengers. Despite the increased size, the new version will shave off about 50 kg as it will have a curb weight of 1940 kg. Customers will be able to order the car with an AWD layout but this will be available a year later after the RWD is out.
When it will go on sale, the new Quattroporte will get a Ferrari-made V8 engine for the entry-level variant. Most likely, we are dealing with a tweaked version of the current 4.7-liter unit that pumps out 453 hp. The updated engine will most likely get a power boost and provide lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Other turbocharged and supercharged V6 and V8 gasoline and diesel engines are a possibility.
As far as the design is concerned, the new model is more of an evolution of the outgoing model. The interior cabin promises to provide better quality, while a significant part of the controls will be made through a touchscreen display mounted in the center of the dashboard.
The redesigned Maserati Quattroporte is expected to have a starting price of 80,000 pounds.
