2014 Ford Fiesta will be available with the 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine
During this year’s Paris Motor Show held in September, Ford introduced the facelifted Fiesta which is offered in Europe with a 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine.
The Blue Oval has announced this week that the U.S.-spec 2014MY Fiesta will also be getting this frugal yet powerful engine next year when it goes on sale. The car’s public debut should be made next week when the Los Angeles Auto Show starts.
In North America the EcoBoost engine will be offered in the most powerful version, the one that outputs 123 hp and a maximum torque of 148 lb-ft.
There aren’t any official EPA figures concerning the fuel consumption but we know that the European version of the 2013 Fiesta with the 1.0-liter Ecoboost 123 hp engine connected to a five-speed manual gearbox has a fuel consumption of just 4.3 liters / 100 km (54.7 mpg US). In this configuration, the refreshed Fiesta is capable of performing the 0-62 mph sprint in 9.4 seconds, en route to a top speed of 122 mph.
