The new generation of the Mazda3 has surfaced the Internet ahead of an imminent reveal. The attractive Japanese hatchback is 4465mm long, 1795mm wide and 1450mm tall, while the wheelbase measures 2700mm. Depending on the engine choice and level of equipment, weight (not including driver) ranges from 1,190 kg to 1,330 kg. It manages to offer a rather small 350-liter cargo capacity but it can be increased at 1,250 liters once the rear seats are folded. Depending on engine, Mazda is offering either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. It has a MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link rear arrangement.
Engine lineup kicks off with the 1.5-liter SKYACTIV-G gasoline mill rated at 100 HP and 150 Nm of torque, enough for a sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 10.8 seconds and a maximum speed of 113 mph (182 km/h). Next in line is the SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter with 120 HP and 210 Nm, allowing the Mazda3 to reach 62 mph in 8.9 seconds and a top speed of 121 mph (195 km/h). The same power unit can be had with Mazda’s regenerative braking system called i-ELOOP which increases output to 165 HP. 0-62 mph is done in 8.2 seconds while top speed stands at 130 mph (210 km/h).
Diesel fans can opt for the SKYACTIV-D 2.2 which pumps out 150 HP and 380 Nm of torque, enabling the 2014 Mazda3 perform the 0-62 mph run in 8.1 seconds before reaching a top speed of 130 mph (210 km/h).
