2014 MINI 5-door hatch unveiled
MINI has taken the wraps off the company’s five-door hatchback, a body style which hasn’t been seen before in the firm’s lineup. Compared to the regular version, the more practical hatch has a 2567mm wheelbase which is 72mm longer than before, while combined with the 61mm increased width it provides the vehicle with a 278-liter trunk so it’s 67 liters more spacious. Fold down the rear bench and the cargo capacity grows to 941 liters. The overall length has been extended by 161mm (at 4005mm) while height has increased by 11mm (at 1425mm).
Engine lineup will be taken from the regular MINI so the hatch will be configurable with a 3-cylinder 1.5-liter TwinPower Turbo gasoline and diesel, as well as a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter TwinPower turbo gasoline and diesel. The most powerful version will be the Cooper S packing 192 PS and 280 Nm of torque or 300 Nm with overboost.
Pricing kicks off at 15,900 pounds for the base model while the Cooper D is 17,050 pounds. Up next are the Cooper S at 19,225 pounds and the Cooper SD priced at 20,050 pounds. Deliveries of the 2014 MINI five-door hatchback will kick off this fall.
