Under the hood it gets a modest 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder 16-valve DOHC gasoline engine outputting 109 bhp (81 kW) and a peak torque of 145 Nm (107 lb-ft). The engine is mated as standard to a 5-speed automatic but for an extra $1,000 it can be linked to a 4-speed automatic.
With the manual transmission it returns 26 mpg city in the city, 35 mpg on the highway and 30 mpg in the combined cycle, while with the latter it does 31 / 40 / 35.
