2015 VW Beetle GRC announced with 553 bhp
The 2015 VW Beetle GRC has made its official debut with some serious power boost over the 2014MY. The model was conceived to take part in this year’s edition of the Global Rallycross Championship and it will have a 4-cylinder, 2.0 TSI engine now churning a massive 553 bhp and 465 lb-ft of torque whereas the previous model had 544 bhp and 387 lb-ft. The entire output is channeled to an all-wheel drive system through a sequential 6-speed gearbox and front & rear limited-slip differentials. Thanks to these high-end parts, the vehicle needs an amazing 2 seconds to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) from a standstill.
It has received a strut front & rear suspension with ZF dampers while to stop efficiently it benefits from 14-inch front and 11.8-inch rear ventilated disc brakes teamed up with 4-piston calipers made from aluminum. The 2015 VW Beetle GRC rides on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped around in Yokohama competition tires measuring 240/640 R17.
It tips the scales at 2,866 lbs and will be seen in the flesh for the first time at the GRC’s season opener set for May 31 in Florida at Ft. Lauderdale.
