2016 Kia Optima starts at $21,840

The 2016 Kia Optima has arrived on the U.S. market where it carries a starting price of $21,840. For this money you will be getting the entry-level LX 2.4 version which comes generously equipped as standard with air conditioning, 16-inch alloys, tilt/telescopic steering wheel and cruise control. This base variant also has an infotainment system with a 5-inch screen and support for Bluetooth connectivity while the power windows and locks are also standard. Power comes from a 4-cylinder 2.4-liter gasoline engine that delivers 185 bhp and a peak torque of 178 lb-ft.

Up next is the $23,990 LX Turbo which uses a 4-cylinder 1.6-liter turbo with 178 bhp and 195 lb-ft while for $24,890 you can get the EX variant that adds 17-inch rims, LED headlights, leather upholstery, heated steering wheel & front seats, dual-zone auto climate control system, 12-way power driver seat and a wood grain trim.

The 2016 Kia Optima can also be had in a $29,690 SX Turbo trim which has a sportier body kit, 18-inch wheels, 8-inch touchscreen (with GPS), alloy pedals and a beefier 4-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo pushing out 245 bhp and 260 lb-ft.


As for the flagship SXL Turbo, this one kicks off at $35,790 and has a panoramic sunroof, Premium Nappa leather upholstery, heated & ventilated front seats, Harman/Kardon QuantumLogic premium audio system, power passenger seat and other goodies. It also has a plethora of safety & assistance systems like Front Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Detection and Advanced Smart Cruise Control.
