Vauxhall installs a 200 HP engine in the Astra GTC
Vauxhall has installed a more powerful 1.6-liter gasoline engine in the Astra GTC which now delivers 200 HP (147 kW) and a peak torque of 221 lb-ft (300 Nm), making it the most non-VXR version. This impressive output comes courtesy of a 4-cylinder, 1.6-liter turbocharged ECOTEC direct-injection engine borrowed from the Cascada Turbo. Thanks to the engine transplant, the vehicle will do 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in just 7.3 seconds en route to a maximum speed of 143 mph (230 km/h). The engine has also made the car 13 percent more fuel efficient as it now returns 51 mpg UK and has CO2 emissions of 154 g/km.
From now on customers have the possibility of opting for an updated IntelliLink system priced at 855 pounds which has a 7-inch touchscreen display, satellite navigation, voice control, Bluetooth support and Europe-wide street level mapping with the possibility of updating via USB.
The 2014 Vauxhall Astra GTC is priced at 20,995 pounds and will enter delivery phase this upcoming spring.
