BMW unveils M4 Coupe Safety Car for DTM
BMW has taken the wraps of a specially developed M4 Coupe which will serve as a safety car for this year’s DTM championship. The vehicle benefits from a wide variety of M Performance Parts such as the carbon fiber mirror caps, front splitter, rear diffuser and rear spoiler. It has also received a black grille, titanium exhaust system and aerodynamic side skirts, whereas the body has been covered in a DTM livery. Other goodies worth mentioning would have to be the roof-mounted emergency lights and the KW coilover suspension kit.
On the inside the BMW M4 Coupe Safety Car packs Recaro racing seats with Schroth harnesses, a race communication system, roll cage (instead of the rear seats) and a carbon fiber trim. Under the hood it’s the same 6-cylinder, 3.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine delivering 431 PS and a maximum torque of 550 Nm. The engine works together with a double-clutch M gearbox allowing the vehicle hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.1 seconds.
