Approximately two weeks ago, the 2016 Toyota Tacoma made its online debut and it’s now being showcased in Detroit at NAIAS. It was developed to compete with models such as the GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado and as noticeable in the attached images it adopts an evolutionary design with influences from the 4Runner. It has received a rather prominent front grille, smart-looking headlights offered with optional LED daytime running lights while at the back there’s an easy to use tailgate. It also comes with muscular fenders and can get a variety of alloy wheels ranging in sizes from 16 to 18 inches.
On the inside it features a standard GoPro camera mounted on the windshield, along with a metallic trim and circular air vents while more expensive versions get touchscreen infotainment system, leather upholstery and wireless smartphone charger, just to name a few.
Customers will be able to order the 2016 Toyota Tacoma with a 4-cylinder 2.7-liter engine or with a larger newly developed V6 3.5-liter engine that runs on the Atkinson cycle and comes with D-4D technology. Both engines can be coupled to a new 6-speed automatic gearbox while the V6 can also get a 6-speed manual transmission.
