Audi will be offering a special edition of its R8 model in China. We are talking about the R8 China Edition which will be sold in 80 units and will be available in two colors: Suzuka Grey and Malibu Blue. It comes with 19-inch gloss black alloys, carbon fiber rear wing and contrasting side blades. Inside the cabin we find leather and Alcantara-wrapped sports seats, Alcantara steering wheel and as you would expect from such a vehicle, an individually numbered gear knob made from aluminum. In the press release, Audi has mentioned that “to respect the cultural habit of Chinese customers, all numbers with 4 are removed from the serial numbers 1-99”.
To our surprise, this special edition is based on the pre-facelift R8 V10 so those who order the car will not be getting the latest version. Anyway, the vehicle is powered by a V10 5.2-liter engine capable of generating 525 HP (386 kW) and a maximum torque of 391 lb-ft (530 Nm). This power is sent to the quattro all-wheel drive system with the help of an R tronic transmission that enables the R8 China Edition to perform the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in only 3.9 seconds.
At the moment of writing, the Ingolstadt-based automaker has not released any details about the price tag of this special R8.
