Subaru Impreza Sport Hybrid announced

Subaru’s Japanese division has introduced the Impreza Sport Hybrid which represents the company’s second hybrid production model after the XV Crosstrek Hybrid. It looks slightly different than the conventional-powered model thanks to a more aggressive front fascia, bespoke 17-inch wheels with 215/50 R17 tires, LED taillights, a roof-mounted spoiler along with a bunch of tweaks inside the cabin like a metallic trim, piano black panels, blue accents and Ultrasuede seats on the more expensive S model. More importantly, Subaru says the model will do 2.04 km / l in the JC08 cycle, thus making it one of the most economical models sold in Japan.

The 2015 Impreza Sport Hybrid (JDM-spec) is powered by a horizontally-opposed 2.0-liter four-cylinder DOHC engine teamed up with an electric motor and a high-voltage battery. The power generated by the hybrid system is channeled through a continuously variable transmission (CVT) to an all-wheel drive arrangement.

Subaru will offer the model in various paint schemes such as venetian red pearl, crystal white pearl, quartz blue, deep sea-blue pearl, ice silver metallic and crystal silica. They plan on selling approximately 500 units each year, with pricing for the base model kicking off at 2,505,600 yen whereas the S version is 2,635,200 yen and both will be available on order starting July 10.
