Acura introduces the TLX prototype as preview for next year’s production model

With this TLX prototype Acura is providing a preview of next year’s production model. Currently being showcased at NAIAS in Detroit, the TLX prototype wears an attractive Athletic Red Pearl paint with an angular front end featuring a prominent grille and jewel-eye LED headlights. We also notice the aerodynamic side skirts, sculpted hood and 20-inch rims. Although it has the same 109.3 inch wheelbase as the TL, Acura says the TLX’s overall length has decreased and can offer “comfortable seating for five adults.”

The production model will be powered by a 4-cylinder, 2.4-liter engine mated to a dual-clutch eight-speed transmission. Customers will also have the possibility of selecting a beefier V6 3.5-liter which will work with a nine-speed automatic gearbox. The Acura TLX will be available with both front- and all-wheel drive systems.

It will benefit from a generous list of safety systems like Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Collision Mitigation Braking and Lane Keeping Assist System.
