Caterham unleashes Superlight R600
The latest model coming from the British sportscar maker Caterham is this Superlight R600, a follow-up to the R500 launched a few years ago. Advertised as being the quickest Caterham Seven ever made, the new R600 costs a pricey 44,995 pounds but it does pack a serious punch. The power is provided by a Ford Duratec 2.0-liter engine that is capable of generating 275 hp / 205 kW. It is important to mention that this is the first Seven that features the forced induction technology.
This power unit generates 200 lb-ft (270 Nm), which represents a 13% increase in comparison to the aforementioned R500 which by the way was a little bit cheaper.
The entire horsepower is sent to the road through the help of a six-speed sequential transmission. Other worthy features that we should check include the Avon radial slicks or wets, as well as a Titan limited slip differential. Those of you that own an older R300 might want to know that these models can be retrofitted with the R600 package, but we don’t know the price tag of this upgrade.
