The breathtaking Porsche 918 Spyder was recently put through its paces at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas by company works driver Patrick Long. The video starts out with the supercar leaving the pit lane while running only on electric power and then the acceleration takes place with the vehicle in sport hybrid mode. At one point in the video, the 918 Spyder manages to reach 170 mph (273 km/h) after the driver pushes the hot-lap button. These performances are possible thanks to a 887 HP hybrid powertrain with a 608 PS naturally-aspirated V8 4.6-liter and two electric motors generating 286 HP.
