Citroen C4 Picasso shows its revolutionary styling
Citroen has a long history of launching striking designs and the C4 Picasso is the latest of the string. Looking virtually identical as the Technospace Concept, the new generation of the C4 Picasso rides on the PSA’s EMP2 architecture which has allowed the mini MPV to lose no less than 308 lbs (140 kg) thanks to several alloy body components and a composite rear floor. In addition, 50 percent of the diet has to do with the aluminum bonnet and composite tailgate. As a result, the 2014 C4 Picasso has the same weight as the smaller C3 Picasso. It’s 4.43 meters long, 1.83 meters wide and with a height of 1.63 meters.
Despite being 40mm shorter than its predecessor, the new generation has a 55mm longer wheelbase. Boot capacity stands at 537 liters when the rear seats are up but if you fold them down you’ll have 630 liters for cargo. The new generation brings better interior materials and will be available with a two-tone dashboard, as well as a wide variety of finishes for the seats and doors. The car is offered as standard with a 7-inch touchscreen which controls the audio system, dual zone AC, navigation, phone, driving aids and all the connected services available.
Sitting about that display is a larger 12-inch screen acting as the instrument panel. The interior cabin has received three individual rear seats which are independent and can be configured according to the owner’s preferences. Some of the tech goodies available for the car include ultrasonic blind spot monitoring system, active seatbelts, active cruise control, park assist and 360 VISION system.
Citroen mentions in the official press release that the 2014 C4 Picasso is the first compact MPV in the world with CO2 emissions standard at less than 100 g/km. This is applicable for the model equipped with an e-HDi 90 Airdream engine equipped with stop/start. This diesel mill is capable of outputting 92 HP (68 kW) and works together with a clutch-less, six-speed gearbox enabling the C4 Picasso to have CO2 emissions of only 98 g/km. This variant has a fuel consumption of 3.8 liters / 100 km (61.9 mpg US or 74.3 mpg UK).
Clients will have the possibility of opting for other engines as well, such as a 1.6-liter Blue HDi 150 which is Euro 6 compliant, a 1.6-liter e-HDi 115, a VTi 120 and a beefier THP 155.
