Citroen unveils DS Wild Rubis Concept at Auto Shanghai
The Citroen DS Wild Rubis Concept was shown to the public for the very first time last weekend when it made its public debut at 2013 Auto Shanghai. The crossover concept has the following dimensions: 4.70 meters length, 1.95 meters width, 1.59 meters height and a 2.9 meters wheelbase.
Under the hood it has a gasoline 1.6-liter THP engine outputting 225 HP (165 kW) working alongside with an electric motor that has been mounted on the rear axle and offers an extra 70 HP (51.5 kW). This electric motor draws its power from a lithium-ion battery which is rechargeable via a household socket.
Citroen says that the DS Wild Rubis Concept can travel on electric power alone for 50 km (31 miles) and has CO2 emissions of just 43 g/km when running in hybrid mode. Once the driver hits the acceleration pedal sharply or whenever the grip is poor, the car will know to automatically switch to four-wheel drive mode. When this is activated, the conventional engine will power the front axle while the electric motor will drive the rear axle.
