Datsun shows its first model
As most of you know, the Datsun moniker has been brought back to life by Japanese marque Nissan and will serve as the company’s budget brand, kind of like what the Dacia is to Renault. The first Datsun model will be publicly revealed on July 15 in New Delhi and is set to rival other models such as the Hyundai i10 and Maruti Wagon R.
It’s known internally as the K2 and will be aimed towards emerging markets such as India, South Africa, Indonesia and Russia. It could possibly reach other markets were budged cars are in high request.
It is believed that Datsun’s first model will ride on the Nissan Micra/March platform and will borrow its 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder gasoline engine but with a different horsepower number. The handbrake and gear lever will be allegedly moved on the dashboard to provide more space between the front seats.
