The BMW 550i has received an aftermarket kit from Dinan Engineering which is compatible with both the RWD and AWD versions of the car. They focused on the TwinPower 4.4-liter V8 engine and increased its output from the stock 400 HP (294 kW) and 609 Nm (450 lb-ft) to no less than 542 HP (398 kW) and 795 Nm (587 lb-ft) of torque. The additional power was obtained by tuning the exhaust system, mounting bigger intercoolers and turbochargers, together with remapping the ECU and installing a high-flow intake manufactured from carbon fiber. After the changes were made, the BMW 550i was able to hit a top speed of more than 322 km/h (200 mph).
Dinan Engineering also conducted several other modifications to the BMW 550i by mounting lightweight forged wheels, negative chamber front control arms + low compliance rear control arms, as well as custom lowering springs. There’s also a Brembo braking system, carbon fiber mirrors / rear spoiler / front fascia and a limited slip differential.
