Facelifted Kia Optima Hybrid officially revealed

South Korean automaker Kia has just unveiled a facelifted version of the Optima Hybrid which will be shown in public this week during the 2014 Chicago Auto Show. The revisions are modest since the most significant change would have to be the front bumper that now has more vents in order to diminish drag. Kia has also implemented a mesh grille and installed LED-infused headlights while the 16- and 17-inch alloy wheels have received a new design. On the inside the Optima Hybrid can be configured with a UVO eServices infotainment system as well as an Infiniti sound system with eight speakers.

Motivation is provided by a 4-cylinder, 2.4-liter gasoline engine working with an electric motor and a lithium polymer battery which has a capacity of 47 kW. Thanks to this hardware arrangement, the 2014 Kia Optima Hybrid offers a combined output of 199 bhp and 318 Nm and can return 36 mpg in the city, 40 mpg on the highway and 38 mpg in the combined cycle.
