Jeep launches 2.2-liter MultiJet turbodiesel engine for Cherokee
Jeep has launched in United Kingdom a new 2.2-liter MultiJet turbodiesel engine for the Cherokee. It can be had with either 185 PS or 200 PS and in both cases the maximum available torque stands at 440 Nm. It’s a Euro 6-compliant engine that works exclusively with a 9-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system. The 185 PS version of the engine can be had in the Longitude and Longitude+ versions while the 200 PS specification is available only for the Limited model. The Active Drive I system comes as standard, but the 200 PS variant can be had with the more sophisticated Active Drive II setup.
In terms of performance, the Jeep Cherokee with the 200 PS 2.2-liter MulitJet and Active Drive I runs the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 8.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 127 mph (204 km/h). Go for the Active Drive II configuration and the sprint takes an additional 0.2 seconds while the top speed decreases by 1 mph. As for the weaker 185 PS model, this one completes the run in 8.8 seconds and can achieve a maximum speed of 125 mph (201 km/h).
The cheapest Jeep Cherokee money can buy in United Kingdom is the entry-level 2.0 MultiJet II 140 PS Longitude FWD manual from £26,095 OTR while the most expensive one would have to be the 2.2 MultiJet II 200 PS Limited 4WD automatic which kicks off at £37,995 OTR.
