Maserati could be working on supercar based on LaFerrari
Some interesting rumors have surfaced the Internet in the last few days hinting at a new supercar from Maserati set to be a successor for the Ferrari Enzo-based MC12 launched back in 2004. This report says it will be out sometime in 2015 and will be based on the fresh LaFerrari but with one major difference as the Maserati supercar will not use the hybrid technology found in the new Ferrari flagship model. The engine powering the new model is not known for now but it could be either the 6.3-liter V12 inside the LaFerrari and F12 Berlinetta or a quad-turbo version of the 3.8-liter V8 powering the new Quattroporte.
Apparently it will be sold exclusively as a coupe and will most likely be lighter than the LaFerrari taking into consideration that it will not feature the hybrid tech. Chances are it will be a two-seater with the electrical, suspension and chassis taken from the LaFerrari, while the bespoke body panels will be made out of carbon fiber. Expect to see a power output smaller than what the LaFerrari has to offer.
