McLaren 650S Sprint heading to Pebble Beach
McLaren has disclosed plans to showcase at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance a track-spec 650S Sprint which they describe as a “stripped-out racer.” It’s based on the 650S Coupe and has adopted a GT3-like exterior with updated air intakes, ventilated hood as well as a prominent rear wing. Other important changes include center-locking 19-inch racing wheels wrapped around in Pirelli tires, an uprated Brake Steer system and a track-tuned suspension and an air jacking system for faster tire changes.
Moving inside the stripped out cabin, the McLaren 650S Sprint comes with a FIA-approved roll cage, carbon fiber racing seat with six-point harness and a built-in fire extinguisher system. The V8 3.8-liter twin-turbo engine has been carried over from the road-going model but benefits from bespoke calibration while the transmission has been tweaked as well.
Already available on order, the track-only 650S Sprint can be had from a pre-tax starting price of 198,000 pounds.
