McLaren Sports Series teased
McLaren has published a fresh teaser photo depicting their upcoming model named Sports Series. Design to be their entry-level model, the vehicle is codenamed P13 and is scheduled to come out next year with an estimated starting price of $180,000 in United States, thus making it a lot more affordable than the 650S Coupe which kicks off at around $270,000. As you would expect, the Sports Series will share many visual similarities with its larger 650S and P1 siblings but will get its own taillights, diffuser, along with narrower side vents while the overall length will be much shorter.
Expect power to come from McLaren’s well-known V8 3.8-liter twin-turbo engine but it will obviously be detuned to somewhere below the 600 HP (441 kW) so that it won’t step on the 625C’s tows, an Asia-variant of the 650S which offers 625 HP from the same engine.
The Sports Series is characterized as being a “pure McLaren” and it will get its world premiere on April 1, 2015 at the New York International Auto Show. A Spider version is also in the works and should come out before the end of next year.
