Nissan Altima Sedan debuts at Moscow Motor Show
At this year’s edition of the Moscow Motor Show, Nissan has introduced the new Altima Sedan that will be available only in Russia. The car is based on the second-gen JDM Bluebird Sylphy which was replaced in the domestic market by the third-gen model which debuted at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show.
Design-wise, the Russia-only model has different air vents on the front bumper, new tail lamps and a different look for the front grille. The most significant changes are inside the cabin where we find a very simple design, miles away from being as good looking as the one of the second-gen Sylphy.
Nissan said that that the Altima Sedan for the Russian market has received a retuned suspension and additional protection against low quality road surfaces by using a 2mm steel plate under the engine bay, along with several other steel plates that cover the brake and fuel pipes. The vehicle measures 4,656mm and it has a wheelbase of 2,700mm which according to Nissan it’s the biggest in this segment. The trunk has a capacity of 500 liters.
The car is powered by a 4-cylinder 1.6-liter naturally-aspirated engine that produces 101 hp and 145 Nm of torque. The power is sent to the front wheels with the help of a 5-speed manual or the optional 4-speed automatic transmission. Nissan said that the car will be produced at the company’s assembly line in Togliatti, Russia, before going on sale in the beginning of next year.
