Nissan launches 163 HP turbo gasoline engine for Qashqai
Nissan is now offering a bigger and more powerful gasoline turbocharged engine in the Qashqai. It’s a four-cylinder 1.6-liter DIG-T motor which generates 163 HP at 5,600 rpm and a maximum torque of 240 Nm reached between the 2,000 and 4,000 rpm range. Equipped with this beefier motor, the crossover will run the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 9.1 seconds on its way onto a maximum speed of 124 mph (200 km/h). This is an Euro 6-compliant engine and allows the Qashqai have a fuel consumption in the combined cycle of 5.8 liters / 100 km (48.7 mpg UK or 40.5 mpg US).
The engine will be offered only on the front-wheel drive Qashqai equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. Nissan has also announced that those who prefer the smaller and less powerful 1.2 DIG-T with 115 HP now have the possibility of ordering a new Xtronic gearbox.
