Opel Adam gets its public debut at Paris Motor Show
Created to tackle the MINI and the Fiat 500, the Opel Adam has made its public appearance this week during the 2012 Paris Motor Show. Promising to be a highly customizable car, the all-new Adam comes with what Opel likes to call a “floating roof” that will be available in two shades which will contrast the bodywork. Upon launch it will be sold with a choice of three 4-cylinder gasoline engines in the form of a 1.2-liter with 69 hp, a 1.4-liter with 86 hp or 98 hp. Later on after the car’s launch Opel will introduce a new lineup of small gasoline engines with direct injection and forced injection, along with the choice of a 6-speed gearbox.
One of the standard features across the entire Opel Adam range would have to be the electronic stability control along with the CITY mode that when activated it lightens the steering wheel so that it will be easier to drive the car in an urban area. There’s also a recently developed infotainment system which has been designed so that it can provide support for the latest technologies, including connectivity support with Android smartphones and other devices running on Apple’s iOS.
Customers will have the choice of three trim levels called JAM, GLAM and SLAM. The car is already available on order and the first deliveries are expected to commence in the first month of next year. It is available in 12 different body colors and 20 styles of alloy wheels from 16- to 18-inch, as well as lots of shades for the interior cabin. Also available are decal packages for the roof, sides and the door mirrors.
