Porsche 918 Spyder revealed in production guise
The highly anticipated Porsche 918 Spyder has been revealed through the design illustrations published by the European trademark and design registrar. The German automaker plans on putting on sale its flagship model starting with this September for a base price tag of no less than 768,026 euros. The looks of the car will probably remain as they are now since the photos match the design we have seen in the latest leaked and spy photos of the 918 Spyder. However, we are not certain whether the production version will retain the hidden door handles, but chances are these could make it when the car enters its manufacturing phase.
At the heart of the 2013 Porsche 918 Spyder is going to be a 4.6-liter V8 engine good enough for 580 hp (432 kW) and more than 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. This power unit will work together with two electric motors that are able to pump out an extra 245 hp (183 kW). This hardware configuration should provide the German supercar with a combined power output of approximately 795 hp (593 kW) and 780 Nm (575 lb-ft).
It will be able to complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in just about 3.2 seconds, en route to a top speed of 199 mph (320 km/h).
