Porsche confirms $845,000 starting price for the 918 Spyder
The Porsche 918 Spyder is one of the most anticipated and important cars set for a 2013 launch and we haven’t seen it yet in its production form. Without any doubt, the final version of the car will be exhibited at an important car show later on this year. The important news that we bring today would have to be that Porsche has revealed the price list for the car in the United States so you can start saving. It will be sold as a 2014 model year and will have a starting MSRP price of $845,000 which at the current exchange rates means approximately 407,500 pounds or 634,500 euros. This price tag does not include any destination & handling fees.
The Porsche 918 Spyder will be offered with an optional Weissach package that removes some of the comfort and amenities features of the supercar, such as the audio system, air conditioning, door storage and armrest in order to lower the curb weight of the car by 77 pounds (34 kg). If you want this variant, prepare to pay at least $929,000 (without the additional taxes).
Motivation will come from a plug-in hybrid configuration consisting of a mid-mounted V8 4.6-liter generating more than 562 hp mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox which drives the rear wheels. There’s also a pair of electric motor which help the car provide a combined output of no less than 795 hp.
