Porsche unveils facelifted 911 Carrera with twin-turbo engine

The facelifted 911 Carrera is making its online appearance and will be heading to next week’s Frankfurt Motor Show. It adopts several subtle design tweaks in typical 911 fashion such as the new headlights featuring four-point daytime running lights as well as new alloy wheels, an engine cover with vertical slats and modified door handles. Other changes include updated taillights with four-point brake lights while the interior cabin has gained a new Porsche Communication Management System that has a 7-inch screen with support for multi-touch gesture recognition and Apple CarPlay. The sat-nav system has also been thoroughly improved and now integrates Google Streetview and Google Earth.

The most important change concerning the facelifted 911 Carrera is the adoption of an all-new six-cylinder 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine that generates 370 PS and 450 Nm in the base model and 420 PS and 500 Nm in the S. This makes both cars 20 PS and 60 Nm more powerful than the models they replace and when equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package, the 911 Carrera Coupe will run the 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.2 seconds whereas the Carrera S needs just 3.9 seconds before topping out at 308 km/h.

Besides gaining more power, the revised Carrera models are around 12% more efficient and the PDK-equipped Carrera S consumes just 7.7 liters / 100 km which is 1 liter / 100 km less than before.

The facelifted 911 Carrera range is scheduled to go on sale on December 12 in Germany and will kick off at €96,605.
