Renault has launched a new version of the Twizy entitled Cargo which is designed mostly for business owners. It comes with a different interior cabin which lacks the rear seat in order to increase available cargo room. As a result of the change, the Twizy is now capable of storing up to 180 liters (6.3 cubic feet) of cargo and to reach the loading area you have to open a redesigned rear door which opens 90 degrees and it’s entirely watertight. It’s already available in France where it has a starting price of 6,750 euros, without taking into account the value added tax and battery rental fees.
Powering the Renault Twizy Cargo 45 LIFE MA L6e is a modest 4 kW (5 HP) electric motor which grants a top speed of 28 mph (45 km/h). There’s also the LIFE MB L7e which has a more powerful 12 kW (17 HP) electric motor allowing the Twizy Cargo hit an electronically-capped top speed of 50 mph (80 km/h). Both of them should offer a real-world range between 31 and 50 miles (50 and 80 km).
