RenaultSport Megane Estate GT 220 revealed
Renault’s RS division has prepared a hotter version of the Megane Estate. Wearing the GT 220 moniker, this special edition of the wagon is scheduled to go on sale next month in France, following 11 other markets.
Under the hood is a de-tuned version of the firm’s 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine found in the Megane R.S. While in the latter it pumps out 262 hp, in the Estate it generates 217 hp and a maximum torque of 340 Nm. This power unit is linked to a 6-speed manual transmission driving the front wheels.
The French automaker did not publish any figures regarding the car’s acceleration, but they did mention that the more potent estate is able to return 32.2 mpg US (38.7 mpg UK or 7.3 liters / 100 km), with CO2 emissions standing at 169 g/km. Aside from the engine transplant, the Megane Estate GT 220 benefits from a recalibrated suspension, high-performance tires and uprated electric power steering and braking systems.
Design-wise, we notice the insertion of several gloss black details, special badging and the 18-inch black alloy wheels. Inside the cabin it has been fitted with a bespoke steel gear lever knob, steering wheel, sport seats, aluminum pedals, center console-mounted numbered plaque and also several red accents.
