Seat unleashes 2014 Leon Cupra and Cupra 280
Spanish automaker Seat has taken the wraps of the 2014 Leon Cupra and the more powerful Cupra 280. Both of them feature a TSI 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine outputting 265 HP in the Cupra and no less than 280 HP in the range-topping Cupra 280. Both of them feature a 350 Nm peak torque and have an electronically limited maximum speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). The Cupra 280 will need 5.7 seconds to get from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) with the DSG while with the 6-speed manual it will cover the sprint in 5.8 seconds.
Opt for the regular Leon Cupra with the DSG and the car will hit 62 mph in 5.8 seconds or 5.9 when it’s working with the manual gearbox. The Leon Cupras equipped with a manual transmission are going to have a fuel consumption of 6.4 liters / 100 km whereas the automatic models will consume 6.7 liters / 100 km.
55 kg lighter than the model it replaces, the Cupra wears a beefy body kit and rides on 18-inch rims (19-inch for Cupra 280). It benefits from a twin exhaust arrangement, rear diffuser, an electronic stability control and a mechanical locking differential.
