Signs That You Can Still Get a Lower Price for a Used Car
Used cars are significantly cheaper than new models. However, if you’re trying to save money, you can’t agree to the initial price. Besides, used cars are usually up for negotiation. You have to be smart in negotiating with the dealer so that you can get a reasonable amount. When you decide to purchase used cars in Utah, you can expect top quality.
There are instances when the dealers aren’t willing to lower the cost since they already gave a low initial offering. However, others could still give you a much lower price. These are the signs that you have a chance of bringing the cost down.
You discovered flaws during a test drive
You can take the used car out on a test drive, just like a new car. In the process, you hope that the vehicle runs perfectly and you won’t discover any problems. However, if you realize that there are issues while driving the car, you might have to look for another option. If these flaws are tolerable, you can agree to buy the car provided that the dealer gives a new offer. With the fault that you discovered, the dealer will probably say yes to your request.
The dealer doesn’t give a definite no
When dealers aren’t willing to bring the price down, they will keep saying no, even if you try hard. Some of them might even be willing to walk out of the negotiation. They feel strongly about the price because they know that the vehicle is top quality. They can also find other potential buyers if you don’t agree with them. If the dealer doesn’t immediately say no to your request for a lower price, it’s a good sign. It means that there’s still a chance that you can get a reasonable price.
You already succeeded in bringing the price down
It could be annoying for the dealer if you requested to lower the price, and request more even if you got what you wanted. There’s nothing wrong in giving it a shot, though. Agreeing to your first request means that the price is flexible. If you think that the value is lower than what you initially got offered, you can ask for another discount.
The history report reveals poor maintenance
The good thing about buying a used car is that you can look at its maintenance records. The document tells you if the previous owner had a significant accident while driving the car. You can also see if the previous owner maintained the car well. A poorly-maintained vehicle could end up with issues. If you’re still willing to buy the vehicle, you can at least request a discount. It’s reasonable enough given that you might have to pay for maintenance and repair costs in the future.
Once you get the price that you requested, you have to accept the deal. Otherwise, the dealer will find someone else to buy the car.
