Students from Brigham Young University create 1,331 mpg vehicle
In this video you have the chance of seeing the most economical vehicle ever made in the United States. It was developed by a team of six bright students from Brigham Young University who took the frugal vehicle to this year’s SAE Supermileage Competition where the vehicle was able to return an unbelievable 1,331 mpg US (1,598 mpg UK or 0.17 liters / 100 km).
The vehicle tips the scales at 44.9 kg (99 lbs) and can reach a top speed of just 40.2 km/h (25 mph). It’s powered by an electronically-controllable, fuel-injected lawnmower engine with a 14-to-1 compression ratio.
