You probably remember Subaru introduced the XV Crosstrek Hybrid earlier this year at the New York Auto Show when they described it as the most frugal all-wheel drive crossover in the U.S. Now, Subaru has disclosed pricing details for their new model which will begin at $25,995. For this money you will be getting an economical crossover that returns an estimated 28 mpg in the city, 34 mpg on the highway and 31 mpg in the combined cycle. It boasts a generous 221mm (8.7 inches) ground clearance and benefits from the firm’s well-known Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.
Powering the Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid is a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter boxer engine outputting 148 bhp and a maximum torque of 145 lb-ft transferred to all four wheels with help from a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission with a built-in electric motor providing an extra 13 bhp and 48 lb-ft. Compared to the standard model, the hybrid variant also has a different chassis tuning which promises to deliver a more pleasant handling experience.
