Three-cylinder 1.5-liter engine with 400 bhp unveiled by Nissan
Nissan has made an interesting reveal today by showing its new tiny three-cylinder, 1.5-liter gasoline engine which will be part of the hybrid system in the ZEOD RC race car set to compete at this year’s Le Mans. The engine is 400mm long, 500mm tall and 200mm wide while tipping the scales at 40 kg. Despite being just a three-cylinder engine, the motor can churn no less than 400 bhp (298 kW) and a maximum torque of 280 lb-ft (380 Nm).
Nissan has baptized this engine as the “DIG-T R” and according to the company it has a power to weight ratio of 10 hp per kg which is higher than even a Formula 1 motor. We will get to see the engine in action between June 14 and 15 during the Le Mans 24 Hours.
