Toyota reveals FT-86 Open concept
Toyota has released the first official photos and details about the FT-86 Open concept which will get its first public appearance in just several days at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. It looks a lot like the coupe but obviously without the hardtop. Instead, it boasts an electrically operated soft top which will allow the car to provide a “feeling of oneness with nature while maintaining the joy and sense of oneness with the vehicle.”
On the inside it looks pretty much the same like its coupe sibling, but adopts a white and navy blue theme matched with yellow/gold carpeting. Other noticeable features include metallic accents and alloy pedals.
For this near-production concept, Toyota decided to ditch the coupe’s infotainment system and instead put an audio head unit as well as extra instrumentation. They did not say what powers the convertible, but it’s safe to assume we are dealing with a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter boxer engine producing 200 HP (147 kW) and 151 lb-ft (205 Nm) of torque.
More details will be released on March 5 when the vehicle will get its official unveiling in Geneva. Stay tuned for additional information about this FT-86 Open concept from Toyota.
