Toyota unveils eight-gen Hilux
Toyota has taken the wraps off the eight-gen Hilux mid-size pickup truck. It’s an entirely new model which is 70mm longer and 20mm wider than its predecessor and comes with a slightly lower roofline. It can get a variety of alloy wheels in sizes from 16 to 18 inches and benefits from an overhauled interior cabin packing a large touchscreen display, 4WD changeover switch and leather upholstery. It also gets a new LCD screen positioned between the speedometer and tachometer from where the driver obtains all the relevant data.
As far as the engines are concerned, the eight-gen Hilux will be offered depending on market with newly developed 2.4 and 2.8 turbodiesel motors generating 160 hp & 295 lb-ft and 177 hp & 332 lb-ft, respectively. There’s also a 2.7-liter gasoline motor with 164 hp and a larger six-cylinder 4.0-liter pushing out 278 hp.
Toyota says these engines will be paired to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox, granting the eight-gen Hilux with a 1,240 kg maximum payload capacity and a 3,500 kg towing capacity.
