Toyota Verso receives 1.6-liter diesel engine from BMW
Some of you are probably surprised by the title but you shouldn’t as Toyota and BMW reached an agreement for BMW-powered Toyotas at the end of 2011. This is the first product launched within this collaboration and is a 1.6-liter turbodiesel engine provided by BMW for the Toyota Verso 1.6 D-4D.
It’s Euro 5 compliant and has an output of 110 bhp and a peak torque of 270 Nm available between 1,750 rpm and 2,250 rpm. In this configuration, the Toyota Verso 1.6 D-4D will have CO2 emissions of 119 g/km.
If the engine sounds familiar, that’s because it can be ordered in the BMW 1-Series and was also available on the previous generation of the MINI. The power unit is manufactured by BMW in Austria while the Toyota Verso 1.6 D-4D is programmed to enter production in January 2014 in Turkey.
