Turbocharged Porsche Boxster S spied in motion on the Nordschleife
The 2016 Porsche Boxster S has been spotted with a turbocharged engine testing on the Nordschleife in Germany. It will go on sale in the first half of next year and instead of a 3436cc 6-cylinder naturally aspirated engine it will have a smaller turbocharged four-cylinder motor believe to have a 2.5-liter displacement. Word on the street suggests the new engine will be capable of delivering 300 bhp (224 kW) in this Boxster S while the beefier GTS version will employ the same engine but with 370 bhp (276 kW). As for the base Boxster model, this is said to use a 2.0-liter turbo pushing out about 240 bhp (179 kW).
The 2016 Porsche Boxster S facelift will also go through a series of very subtle cosmetic tweaks both inside and out, along with some other modest revisions to keep the model fresh and competitive. It is believed the Cayman will be slotted below the Boxster in some markets as Porsche wants to boost the model’s awareness and sell more units which is why in select countries the coupe will be cheaper than its soft top sibling caught on camera here performing last-minute testing.
Expect both the revised Boxster and Cayman to go on sale early next year.
