UPM Biofore concept surprises Geneva crowd
UPM in collaboration with students learning at the Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences have joined forces to come up with the interesting Bioforce concept which has been unveiled this week at the 84th Geneva Motor Show. The vehicle is wearing an aerodynamic exterior which has a unique greenhouse and a pair of suicide rear doors. The concept is actually made from thermoformable wood used for the door panels, passenger compartment floor, as well as for the center console. Formi biocomposite materials were used for the front bumper, interior panels, dashboard and side skirts – all of which are 150 kg lighter than the usual parts.
The UPM Bioforce concept is powered by a 1.2-liter diesel engine that runs on wood-based BioVerno diesel fuel that has been created by UPM.
