Volkswagen celebrates Polo’s 40th anniversary with Original special edition
Volkswagen has taken the wraps off the Polo Original special edition to celebrate the models’ 40th anniversary. Since the first generation came out back in 1975, VW has managed to sell in excess of 14 million units and now they are celebrating the four-decade milestone with a special Polo which will be available exclusively at home in Germany and only 1,000 cars will be offered. All of them will come in the five-door hatchback body style and with a choice of engine + gearbox combinations, with prices starting at €19,950. Volkswagen mentions this special edition enables the client to save €1,119 compared to a regular model that has the same goodies.
The Polo Original special edition is offered with a wide array of paints, but most likely customers will go for this Honey Orange Metallic hue which is exclusive to this model. Other special touches include the darkened taillights, body-colored side mirror caps and the “Original” emblem on the fender along with the lettering on the side sills.
It sits on 16-inch Portago alloy wheels and gets standard LED headlights and a radiator grille painted in glossy black while on the inside there’s an aluminum pedal set and a plaid upholstery in black and orange with faux leather side bolsters. All cars get a rearview camera, Front Assist (with City Emergency Braking) and an automatic climate control system.
