Volkswagen Golf GTI Wolfsburg Edition powers into Worthersee
Volkswagen’s apprentices have introduced at this year’s Worthersee meet a Wolfsburg Edition of the Golf GTI which is based on the series Performance Edition of the hot hatchback. The team consisted of eight men and four women who installed an 11-speaker sound system with a 2,170-watt power and LED lightning, subwoofer, along with a 24-inch LED TV, a PlayStation and an iPhone docking station. The vehicle adopts a red & black theme both inside and out and comes with a stainless steel exhaust equipped with vacuum valve control providing a controllable engine sound.
Compared to the standard Golf GTI Performance Edition, this one benefits from a carbon air box which together with the custom exhaust has increased output of the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo from 230 PS to an impressive 380 PS. No performance figures have been released but the one-off should be quicker than the standard car which needs 6.4 seconds until 62 mph (100 km/h) before topping out at 155 mph (250 km/h).
