Volkswagen Golf VII receives 4Motion
The seventh generation of the Volkswagen Golf is now available with the company’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive system. The system encompasses Haldex coupling which has been developed in order to react as quickly as possible, regardless of the road conditions. At first, this system will be offered only with two TDI engines. You can get it with the 1.6-liter TDI which generates 77 kW (105 HP) and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of torque. It’s good enough for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 11.5 seconds and a top speed of 116 mph (187 km/h). With this engine, the fuel consumption of the Volkswagen Golf VII 4Motion stands at 4.5 liters / 100 km (62.7 mpg UK or 52.2 mpg US).
There’s also the larger 2.0-liter TDI which churns 110 kW (150 HP) and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque. Thanks to the additional power, the Golf VII 4MOTION completes the 0-62 mph run in only 8.6 seconds and can hit a maximum speed of 131 mph (211 km/h). Fuel consumption is rated at 4.7 liters / 100 km (60 mpg UK or 50 mpg US).
Already available, the 4MOTION system can be had for an additional 1,800 EUR.
