Volkswagen has announced a special edition of the Jetta which celebrates the model’s 30th anniversary in the U.S. Known as the Jetta GLI Edition 30, the car comes with special badging, a trunk-mounted spoiler and Laguna-style 18-inch rims. It can also be distinguished by its red accents and will be available only in one of the following exterior paint schemes: Reflex Silver Metallic, Tornado Red, Pure White and Deep Black Metallic. Inside it receives V-Tex leatherette seats, red contrasting stitching and red accents. Volkswagen has also put bespoke floor mats, a faux carbon fiber trim and “Edition 30” sill plates.
The cabin of the Volkswagen Jetta GLI Edition 30 comes with an infotainment system offering support for Bluetooth and integrating SiriusXM satellite radio. There’s also a leather-covered steering wheel, while the GLI Edition 30 adds GPS navigation, rearview camera, bi-xenon headlights as well as LED daytime running lights.
Power comes exclusively from a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter TFSI gasoline engine delivering 210 bhp and a maximum torque of 207 lb-ft. Output is sent to the front wheels through either a 6-speed manual or a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Volkswagen plans to start selling the model in the beginning of 2014 while pricing details will be disclosed in the near future.
