Volkswagen launches Golf TSI BlueMotion in Europe
Volkswagen has taken the wraps off the Golf TSI BlueMotion available in Germany from €20,450. The German marque says it’s their most economical version of a gasoline engine-powered Golf ever launched and comes with a 3-cylinder, 1.0-liter turbo producing 115 PS (85 kW) and a maximum torque of 200 Nm (147 lb-ft). Output is sent to the front wheels through either a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG).
Volkswagen says the frugal Golf will consume 4.3 liters / 100 km (54.7 mpg US or 65.6 mpg UK) with corresponding CO2 emissions of 99 g/km. It runs the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 9.7 seconds and will top out at 126 mph (204 km/h).
The Golf TSI BlueMotion can be visually distiniguished by its Lyon-style 15-inch alloy wheels, body-colored rear spoiler while a sport-tuned suspension is also part of the package. It also gets an XDS electronic differential lock, stop/start system, air conditioning and an Automatic Post-Collision Braking System.
As a final note, Volkswagen has announced the Golf Estate and Golf Sportsvan will also receive a similar TSI BlueMotion version in the near future.
