Volkswagen teases 2015 Euro-spec Passat
Volkswagen has released several teaser sketches and preliminary details concerning the upcoming all-new 2015 Euro-spec Passat which will be fully revealed at the beginning of July. The vehicle will lose up to 85 kg and promises to be up to 20 percent more economical than the outgoing model. Its size will decrease a little bit but even so Volkswagen says they have managed to increase cabin room and the trunk will be more spacious than before. It will be offered with standard LED taillights and optional LED headlights featuring automatically adjustable high beam.
Under the hood there will be a brand new bi-turbodiesel four-cylinder 2.0-liter developing 240 PS and a peak torque of 500 Nm from just 1,750 rpm. The engine will be coupled to a new seven-speed DSG gearbox transferring power to the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system. Volkswagen says there will also be a plug-in hybrid derivative that will have an electric range of 31 miles (50 km) and a total range of 600 miles (966 km).
Inside the cabin there will be a large 12.3-inch configurable display, head-up display, Trailer Assist system, revised Park Assist and a tweaked 360-degree Area View function. It will also be offered with numerous safety and assistance systems like Front Assist, Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert, Traffic Jam Assist and City Emergency braking.
