Volkswagen teases sixth generation Transporter
Volkswagen has published a teaser image depicting the sixth generation Transporter which will be revealed in full on April 15. Don’t get too excited about the T6 because it won’t be an all-new model as in reality this will be more like a facelift for the outgoing T5 from where it will inherit the architecture. As far as the design is concerned, it will be influenced by the Tristar concept while the interior cabin is bound to receive some significant upgrades, including the implementation of Volkswagen’s latest infotainment systems.
In terms of engines, chances are Volkswagen will source them from the latest Passat, along with the Tristar concept’s hardware setup which included a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter TDI. That one developed 201 bhp (150 kW) and 331 lb-ft (450 Nm) channeled to all four wheels via a seven-speed DSG transmission working with a 4MOTION system. The concept was able to run the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 10 seconds and top out at 115 mph (185 km/h).
Following its reveal on April 15, the sixth generation Transporter will go on sale in the second half of the year.
