Volkswagen to show Caddy BlueMotion at Frankfurt in September
Next month during the IAA auto event organized in Frankfurt, Germany we’ll get to see the BlueMotion variant of the Volkswagen Caddy which is being characterized by the automaker as the “most fuel-efficient Caddy ever”. It will come with a 27mm reduced ride height, bespoke wheel covers and special badging so that you’ll know it’s not the ordinary Caddy. On the inside it will have a wide variety of features such as glossy black air vents for the passenger version, custom seat upholstery, hill hold assist system and cruise control.
Motivation will be provided by a 1.6-liter TDI engine outputting 102 HP (72 kW) and a peak torque of 184 lb-ft (250 Nm). This engine benefits from a stop/start system and a remapped ECU to lower fuel consumption. For the seam purpose, VW installed regenerative brakes and low-rolling resistance tires which have lowered the fuel consumption to 4.5 liters / 100 km, with CO2 emissions standing at just 117 g/km.
Volkswagen will sell the Caddy BlueMotion only with a short wheelbase in the following configurations: passenger van, kombi van and panel van. Set to go on sale in a short while, pricing in Germany will begin at 17,720 euros.
